Description
Daniel Friederich was born on January 16, 1932. Although having the strong wish to play guitar, he had to face the shortage of money. However, at the age of 23, Friederich solved this dilemma by building his first guitar himself with the result of a copy of a Simplicio guitar. At the beginning Friederich was helped by his guitar teacher Aubin. Also after the early beginnings of guitar making, Friederich was inspired by the work of his friend Robert Bouchet whose ideas were also further developed by Friederich. For decades, Daniel Friederich has been one of the most important luthiers in the world. In 2015 he stopped to build guitars and sold all his tools.
At the beginning of his career as a luthier he built some spruce top guitars, which changed in the 1970’s when he started to devote himself mainly to the construction of guitars with a cedar top. It is easy playable and meets the highest demands of professional guitarists. There are three repaired cracks below the bridge, one above and one beside the fretboard. All repaired cracks are stable. This model is one of the seldom models which have a spruce top and Amaranth back and sides. At this time he hade only this type of guitar model that has seven fan braces with two additional lateral braces. The guitar excels through its outstanding and powerful sound which does not show any weaknesses, not even in the highest registers.
