Lucas Martin - 2022 No. 99

Overview

Lucas Martin was born in Malaga, Spain, in 1984. In 2002 he started to build his first guitar under the guidance of his father, the renowned luthier Bernd Martin. Part of the Granadinian school of guitar making, father and son’s instruments have a powerful Spanish voice with a recognizable colorful timbre. Lucas Martin has dedicated himself to constructing first-quality classical and flamenco guitars in his Sacromonte workshop for more than fifteen years.

The 2023 Lucas Martin No. 99 guitar, identified by "99", features a spruce soundboard and Indian rosewood back and sides. This traditional Spanish guitar showcases the timeless craftsmanship of the luthier's art. The spruce soundboard of this guitar is carefully selected for its tonal properties, which include crisp and clear highs, warm and rich lows, and balanced mids. The Indian rosewood back and sides provide a deep, resonant bass response, friendly, lush midrange, and sparkling high-end overtones. The combination of spruce and Indian rosewood creates a sound that is well-balanced and nuanced, with a dynamic range that is sensitive to the player's touch. This guitar is truly a work of art, and it is sure to inspire players with its traditional Spanish guitar design and exceptional sound quality.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
