Edith Pageaud – a new voice in French classical guitar

French guitarist Edith Pageaud is one of the most promising young musicians of her generation. With clarity, precision and emotional depth, she represents a new wave of classical guitarists who combine technical mastery with artistic curiosity.

Early studies and education

Edith began playing the guitar at the age of seven. Only a year later, she was already winning first prizes in national competitions. She entered the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, where she studied with Gérard Abiton and earned her Diplôme d’Études Musicales in classical guitar at the age of fourteen. She also studied with Gérard Verba before taking several years to pursue studies in humanities and philosophy, an experience that later enriched her musical understanding.

Competitions and recognition

In recent years, Edith Pageaud has established herself on the international scene with a series of impressive competition results. She won first prize at the Drôme de Guitares Competition in 2022, followed by victories at the Roland Dyens International Competition in 2023 – earning her the title “Révélation Guitare Classique Magazine” – as well as first prizes at the Florence International Guitar Competition Alvaro Company in Italy and the Rust International Competition “Alirio Diaz” in Austria.

Artistic activity and teaching

Edith is currently a student of Atanas Ourkouzounov and teaches classical guitar at the Conservatoire. Alongside her teaching and concert work, she is active as an arranger, transcribing piano works by composers such as Rachmaninov, Scriabin and Brahms for guitar. Her transcriptions are noted for their sensitivity and understanding of both instruments’ expressive potential.

With her intellectual background, refined tone and commitment to expanding the guitar repertoire, Edith Pageaud stands out as one of the most distinctive young voices in the French classical guitar scene.

Performing at Siccas Guitars

Every classical guitarist who performs at Siccas Guitars brings a distinct musical path to the instrument — shaped by years of study, competition experience, and the particular musical tradition they have chosen to inhabit. The classical guitar demands sustained technical commitment and a deep engagement with a repertoire that spans from the Renaissance through to works written for living performers. It is an instrument whose full possibilities only reveal themselves over time.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
