Iva Kosić – Classical Guitarist

Iva Kosić is a classical guitarist from Belgrade, Serbia (born 1999), who has built a remarkable international profile through her expressive playing, strong online presence, and a deeply personal relationship with the instrument. Currently completing her Master's degree in Germany, she has become one of the most widely followed classical guitarists of her generation — a rare combination of serious musical training and the ability to communicate that musicality to a global digital audience.

Biography

Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, Iva began her musical education at the age of eight. She started with violin at a local music school before discovering her true passion for the classical guitar. Growing up with a self-taught guitarist as a father, she had already absorbed a broad repertoire before she began formal study on the instrument.

The piece that decisively shaped her musical path was the Etude in E minor by Francisco Tárrega — hearing it at the age of ten convinced her to devote herself fully to the classical guitar. Tárrega's music has remained central to her artistic identity. You can explore Francisco Tárrega's life and music here.

Studies in Germany

Following her undergraduate training in Serbia, Iva moved to Germany to pursue advanced studies at a leading music conservatory. Her decision to study in Germany — one of Europe's most important centres for classical guitar education — reflects her commitment to the highest level of artistic development. She is currently completing her Master's degree, combining rigorous technical study with an active performing and content-creation career.

Repertoire

Iva's concert at Siccas Guitars presented works that showcase the full range and depth of her musical interests — from contemporary Spanish composers to baroque-influenced works and pieces from the 20th-century guitar canon. Her approach to repertoire is broad and eclectic: she is as comfortable with the intimate Romantic pieces of Tárrega and Barrios as with the demanding works of the modern repertoire.

Among her favourite pieces is a theme from Hayao Miyazaki's film Howl's Moving Castle — a work that in her hands demonstrates how the classical guitar can bridge the worlds of art music and popular culture with equal elegance.

Online Presence and Community

Iva's digital following grew rapidly after she began sharing videos of her favourite pieces. Within weeks she gained tens of thousands of followers; today her audience numbers in the millions across platforms. What distinguishes her content is its musical seriousness: these are not performance shortcuts or viral tricks, but genuine musical communication — intimate, expressive, and clearly the work of a trained artist.

Messages from people who began learning the classical guitar because of her videos are particularly meaningful to her. Her influence on the next generation of guitar students is something she takes seriously as an artistic responsibility.

Musical Inspirations

Beyond Tárrega, Iva's musical influences span the full range of the classical guitar world. She is drawn to music that rewards close listening — pieces where each note can be shaped differently depending on touch and articulation, and where the performer's personality is audible in every phrase. This approach to sound-making reflects the finest players in the great tradition of guitar performance.

Future Plans

After completing her Master's degree, Iva plans to continue expanding her performing career and her presence on digital platforms. She dreams of performing in Brazil, Cuba, and across Latin America — regions where the classical guitar has a deep cultural resonance. She is also interested in fashion and content creation as complementary elements of a broader artistic vision.

Iva Kosić at Siccas Guitars

Her concert at Siccas Guitars, filmed at our studio in Karlsruhe, is a compelling document of where she is as a musician right now: technically assured, musically mature, and with a platform presence that amplifies rather than diminishes the seriousness of her artistry. We are delighted to have her as part of the Siccas Guitars family.

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
