Biography of Luigi Attademo
Luigi Attademo is an acclaimed classical guitarist and pupil of Angelo Gilardino. He has won numerous national and international competitions, including the prestigious “Concours International d’Exécution Musicale (CIEM)” in Geneva (1995). Luigi has premiered contemporary works by notable composers like Alvaro Company and Sofia Gubaidulina and has studied under Julius Kalmar, Giovanni Guanti, Alessandro Solbiati, and Emilia Fadini.
With a philosophy degree focusing on musical interpretation, Luigi has contributed to magazines like “Giornale della Musica” and “Soundboard.” He worked in the Andrés Segovia Foundation Archive, discovering and cataloging important manuscripts.
Luigi has performed worldwide, including in Europe, Australia, Argentina, the USA, India, and Korea, presenting programs of Paganini and contemporary Italian music. His discography includes recordings of Baroque to Segovia repertoire, with notable releases such as a CD dedicated to Scarlatti’s Sonatas and the complete works for solo guitar by Paganini on an 1851 Gaetano Guadagnini guitar.
He has collaborated with violist Simone Gramaglia and the Quartetto di Cremona, producing CDs like the one dedicated to Paganini’s music for guitar and viola. He has also worked on projects supported by the Ernst Von Siemens Foundation, such as Hans Werner Henze’s “El Cimarrón.”
Luigi teaches at the Conservatorio Bruno Maderna in Cesena and the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, and he frequently serves as a juror for international competitions. His recent projects include recordings of Bach transcriptions and a new CD with Simone Gramaglia dedicated to Schubert. In 2022, he will be an invited artist at the Guitar Foundation of America Convention in Indianapolis.
