Born in the historic Realejo district of Granada, Spain, in 1939, Manuel began his professional journey at the tender age of twelve in a local carpentry workshop. His early career saw him merging his skills as a cabinetmaker with crafting castanets for the renowned master Eduardo Ferrer. By eighteen, he had already transitioned to becoming a full-fledged guitar maker—a craft he temporarily set aside to serve in Military Service. Upon returning, Manuel teamed up with Antonio Marín to open their own workshop. After a series of relocations, they settled permanently on Paseo de las Palmas street in 1968. This workshop not only nurtured the talents of his sons—Jesús, Mauricio, and Miguel Ángel—but also became a breeding ground for other distinguished luthiers like his brother José López Bellido, Rafael Moreno, and Juan Miguel Carmona.
This guitar is his personal concert model, and it is a downright archetypal example of the great Spanish guitar-making tradition. The name of the guitar winks to the design of the guitar, where each part of the instrument can be described by aural proportions. The traditional build includes a spruce top which is traditionally fan braced and supported by rosewood back and sides. The resulting instrument develops a warm, round and intense sound. Moreover, the playability is fantastic, and the trebles have a notable presence. The guitar was belonged to Manuel Bellido himself and never left the workshop. The guitar can be considered as a new old stock instrument.
