Vicente Arias – 1913
Overview
Overview
Vicente Arias (1833-1914) was born in Ciudad Real, in the south of Madrid. Such as Antonio de Torres, he started as a cabinet maker and was self-taught as a guitar maker. He probably started building guitars in 1860 and won many prestigious prizes around the world i.e. Buenos Aires, Madrid, Brussels and Barcelona. Famous guitarists such as Francisco Tárrega played on his guitars.
This instrument was built in 1913 and is very decorated. It is a full-sized concert model with flamed maple back and sides. An interesting feature is the original maple golpeador on the top. The guitar is perfectly set up and delightful to play. It has a complex seductive tone, rich trebles and deep basses with an incredible balance. Hard-shell case included.
