A wide repertoire

His repertoire runs from Bach and the nineteenth-century Romantics through the Spanish literature to contemporary works. That span is deliberate rather than accidental: alongside performing, his work includes recordings, research into historical guitar performance practice, and the promotion of Slovak guitar music, a repertoire that is still waiting for a wider audience outside its own country.

The research and the playing feed each other. A guitarist who has studied how the instrument was actually played in the nineteenth century approaches Regondi differently from one who has only inherited the modern performing tradition.

Performing at Siccas Guitars

For our channel he recorded Giulio Regondi’s Introduction et caprice Op. 23 – one of the most demanding pieces the nineteenth century left for the guitar, and one that rewards exactly the kind of historical attention he brings to it.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
