Valeria Galimova
Valeria Galimova is one of the most promising young guitarists of her generation. Her playing combines clarity, emotion and remarkable musical maturity.
Born in Russia, she began guitar lessons at the age of eight with Dmitry Milovanov at Music School No. 1 in Kamensk-Uralsky. Even as a child her talent stood out. She received five mayoral scholarships for artistic excellence and, at only fourteen, was invited to perform and serve on the jury at an international festival in Puebla, Mexico.
At seventeen she entered the Gnessin College in Moscow to study with Roman Zorkin and Anastasia Bardina, later continuing her education at the Gnessin Russian Academy under Prof. Artyom Dervoed. She graduated in 2019.
Awards and recognition
Valeria has been awarded one of the Prizes of the President of Russia and the Gold Medal at the Delphic Games 2014. She has also won ten first prizes at Russian and international competitions, confirming her reputation as a leading young artist.
Artistic projects and performances
In 2017 she published a video school of classical guitar in cooperation with World of Music, one of Russia’s major music distributors. A year later she performed the premiere of the suite The Dance for guitar and string quartet at the Moscow Festival of Guitar Chamber Music. That same year she appeared in Piazzolla’s tango opera Maria de Buenos Aires at the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
In 2020 Valeria performed a solo concert at the festival Guitar Virtuosi in the Chamber Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic. Her activity as a performer shows both technical mastery and a constant curiosity for new artistic challenges.
Chamber music and current studies
Chamber music is an essential part of Valeria’s work. She has collaborated with musicians including Anastasia Antonova (harpsichord), Kirill Rusinov (bayan), Valeria Rupasova (cello), Asiia Garipova (violin), Ekaterina Sokolnikova (coloratura soprano) and conductor Jeremy Walker (England).
She completed her master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar under the direction of Prof. Ricardo Gallén.
She has since pursued postgraduate studies at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden with Thomas Fellow, holds the Sächsisches Landesstipendium (2024–2026) and has been a Knobloch Artist since 2021.
