Biography
In his early twenties, he discovered the guitar as a self-taught musician. As his technical abilities grew, the sound of his first instrument no longer met his expectations, awakening the desire for a higher-quality guitar. To recognise and understand differences in craftsmanship, he began an intensive study of specialist literature on guitar making.
After some time of theoretical exploration, he decided once again as an autodidact to build the guitar he envisioned. Playing this first self-made instrument was an overwhelming and formative moment that became the driving force behind his passion and future path. During this early period, the guitar maker Sascha Nowak supported him with professional guidance.
To give his passion a clear professional foundation, he enrolled at the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau, Faculty of Applied Arts in Schneeberg, the only university worldwide offering a programme in plucked instrument making. There he gained a profound understanding of guitar acoustics and successfully completed his studies with a degree in guitar making. His training allowed him to explore the roots of the craft and to study elements of traditional Spanish guitar building.
Since 2011, he has been working as a self-employed master guitar maker and continues to pursue each instrument with the same dedication and fascination he felt when playing his first self-built guitar.
The Craft
Classical guitar construction at concert level demands years of accumulated knowledge: how individual pieces of timber vibrate, how bracing patterns affect tonal balance, how small changes in geometry shift the character of an instrument. A finished concert guitar typically represents several hundred hours of hand work. Every decision — wood selection, arch height, brace dimensions — shapes what a player can do with the finished instrument.
