A Night of Unforgettable Music: Siccas Guitars Night with the MusiSHEans
The Siccas Guitars Night at SteamWork in Karlsruhe was a truly magical evening filled with passion, talent, and incredible music, brought to you by the MusiSHEans—a group of immensely talented female guitarists who captivated everyone in attendance.
MusiSHEans is more than just a group of musicians; it’s a visionary project that brings together professional female guitarists from around the world to celebrate the power of music beyond gender. Each year, MusiSHEans organizes a music tour through Europe with the dream of connecting women musicians globally and showcasing the brilliance of female-led music. By bringing these talented guitarists to the big stage, MusiSHEans creates role models for the younger generation, inspiring them to pick up an instrument and explore new creative avenues.
Let’s take a closer look at the incredible artists who made this night so special:
Judith Beckedorf (Germany) – Pop Fingerstyle & Singer/Songwriter: The evening kicked off with Judith Beckedorf, a multi-instrumentalist on guitar, mandolin, and banjo, as well as a talented singer/songwriter. Her performance of “Paradise” was deeply personal, inviting the audience to close their eyes and imagine their own perfect place. Judith also played her song “Run”, which carries a strong and audible folk influence, reflecting her love for the genre that she discovered during her time in Nashville, TN. Judith’s compositions blend tangible melodies and unfiltered personal experiences, often played on a nylon-string guitar. Her performance set the tone for the night with a beautiful connection to the audience.
Karlijn Langendijk (Netherlands) – Classical Fingerstyle: Next on stage was Karlijn Langendijk, who performed her composition “India”, a piece she wrote during her travels in India. Karlijn has been surrounded by acoustic guitar music since birth and began playing guitar at the age of 13, inspired by her father. Fascinated by the fingerstyle technique and influenced by classical and modern concert music, Karlijn’s set also included her songs “Wanderer”, written when she moved to Karlsruhe at the beginning of the year, and “Miramare”, a piece inspired by her travels through Italy and the breathtaking views over the ocean. Karlijn’s performances showcased her deep connection to her music and the places that inspire her, leaving the audience thoroughly captivated.
Avin Ahmadi (Iran) – Oud: Avin Ahmadi brought a powerful and poignant performance to the stage, singing in Persian with a voice that is both soft and deeply emotional. On her first piece, she chose not to translate the meaning, instead inviting the audience to simply feel the music. The result was an incredibly moving experience that left many in the audience close to tears. Playing the oud and singing a moving poem about women fighting for their rights in Tehran, Avin’s performance was a stirring reminder of the strength and resilience of women around the world. Born on a winter day in 2004 in Tehran, Iran, Avin expresses her deepest feelings, thoughts, and experiences through her creative process, inviting listeners on a profound and transformative journey through the power of her music.
Annika Teubner (Germany) – Percussive Fingerstyle/Tapping: Closing the night was Annika Teubner with her extraordinary performance of “Fire Ants On Mars.” Annika began playing guitar at the age of 7 and by 16, she had already won first place at the national competition “Jugend macht Musik.” Since 2021, she has been studying Jazz/Rock/Pop acoustic guitar at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden. Her set was nothing short of impressive, featuring her own compositions as well as a jaw-dropping rendition of “Master of Puppets.” Annika’s unique blend of percussive elements, intriguing harmonies, and tapping techniques left the audience spellbound. The raw energy and impressive technique she brought to the stage made her one of the standout performers of the night.
A Heartwarming Finale: To close the evening, the MusiSHEans joined together for a performance of “The Cuckoo Bird”. This beautiful folk piece perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the night, blending each artist’s unique talents into a harmonious and soothing finale. The song carried a warm, folk ambiance that left everyone with a smile, making it a heartwarming and memorable conclusion to an extraordinary concert.
