About the luthier

Pete Beer is a Scottish luthier and educator based in Argyll, who began building guitars in 2001. Deeply influenced by the designs of Daniel Friederich, he combines traditional European aesthetics with subtle structural innovations. His guitars are known for their tonal nuance, ergonomic consideration, and player-focused features such as adjustable saddle height and double-action titanium truss rods. Beer's teaching role at Clyde College in Glasgow underscores his commitment to craft and acoustical education.

About the guitar

The 2025 No. 112 “Cir-Mheala” is Pete Beer's chambered top model, its name derived from Scottish Gaelic for “honeycomb.” It is a variation of the double-top principle, using a cedar soundboard with an internal honeycomb structure — a network of precisely carved cavities within a thicker top layer, capped by a thin inner sheet. This design removes mass strategically and enhances both response and tonal flexibility. The back and sides are Indian rosewood, with a French-polished finish that supports clarity and dynamic range. A small walnut tornavoz is integrated to lower the air body resonance to between E and F, boosting the bass and offering a supportive tonal platform across all registers. The trebles are especially lyrical and vocal in quality, while the overall sound is remarkably even, responsive, and rich in tonal color.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
