Montenegrin Guitar Duo – a refined dialogue between two masters
The Montenegrin Guitar Duo, formed by Goran Krivokapić and Danijel Cerović, is among the most distinguished ensembles in today’s classical guitar world. Their artistry, precision and intellectual depth bring new life to the repertoire for two guitars, balancing history, innovation and musical dialogue.
Global recognition and artistic vision
Invited to perform at concert halls such as Saint Petersburg Philharmonia Hall, Manuel de Falla Hall in Madrid and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the duo’s name has become synonymous with excellence. Prestigious festivals including the Koblenz Guitar Festival, the Granada Festival de Música y Danza, KotorArt and the Qinling Mountains International Guitar Festival have repeatedly hosted them for concerts, lectures and masterclasses.
Their mission is to expand the guitar’s chamber music role and repertoire. Through transcriptions of early works and performances of 19th–21st century compositions, Krivokapić and Cerović combine historical awareness with a contemporary sensibility.
A discography that inspires
Their debut recording, featuring works by Carlo Domeniconi, Astor Piazzolla and Dušan Bogdanović, marked their arrival as bold interpreters of modern and world-inspired music. In 2015, Naxos released the first of two volumes of J. S. Bach’s English Suites, transcribed by the duo for two guitars. The second volume, released in 2018, completed this exceptional project, praised for its clarity, balance and artistic integrity.
They are currently preparing a new Naxos recording featuring the passionate music of Astor Piazzolla, to be recorded in Florida.
