Koblenz
At ten he became a student of Professor Hubert Käppel at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy, where he continues his studies today.
That detail is worth pausing on. Käppel’s class is among the most demanding in Europe and is not in the habit of taking ten-year-olds. Whatever else a competition record says about a player, admission at that age says something about the technical foundation that was already there.
Competitions and concerts
Samuel has won major prizes and distinctions at international guitar competitions and festivals across Europe. His concert activity covers solo, chamber music and orchestral performances in Bulgaria and abroad, and he has appeared at international guitar festivals alongside established artists.
Repertoire
He has a particular interest in Baroque music, while his repertoire continues to widen across periods and styles. Alongside concerts he is drawn to recording and to working with the international guitar community.
At Siccas Guitars
At sixteen he recorded the Prelude from Bach’s Suite BWV 997 for our channel, on a 2025 guitar by Thomas Eichert. Bach is the repertoire that shows most clearly what a player has understood – there is no accompaniment to hide behind, only voices that have to stay audible against each other.
He also recorded the Valse by Manuel María Ponce on a 2025 guitar by Hugo Cuvilliez.
