Shilong Fan – outstanding success in Spain’s leading guitar competitions

In 2024, guitarist Shilong Fan achieved an extraordinary series of victories, winning all four of Spain’s most prestigious international guitar competitions – events that are also among the most significant worldwide for the instrument.

Competition highlights

In June 2024, Shilong Fan won first prize at the 6th International Guitar Competition of Madrid “Leona Cases,” held as part of the Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Madrid (FIGUIM).

Only two months later, in August, he was awarded second prize at the 57th Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition in Valencia, where the first prize was not awarded that year.

In November 2024, Shilong Fan continued his success by winning first prize and the audience prize at the 15th Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Clásica de Sevilla. Shortly afterward, at the Certamen Internacional de Guitarra Clásica “Andrés Segovia” in La Herradura, Granada, he received first prize, the audience prize, and the special award for the best interpretation of the Spanish compulsory piece.

Studies and artistic development

Shilong Fan is currently continuing his studies in the Postgraduate Certificate Program “Meisterklasse Gitarre” at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, where he studies under Professor Franz Halász. He had previously completed his master’s degree at the same institution with distinction.

Through his exceptional achievements, Shilong Fan has established himself as one of the most outstanding young guitarists of his generation, combining technical brilliance with musical depth and a strong connection to the Spanish repertoire.
