Stefan Hackl, Dr. phil., born in 1954, is a teacher at the Tyrolean State Conservatory and at the Mozarteum Salzburg/Innsbruck. Numerous prize winners of national and international competitions have come from his guitar class. The main focuses of his work are the study of historical instruments and the performance practice of early music, 19th-century chamber music, and folk music. The research and documentation of the Austrian guitar tradition are of particular importance to him.
