We are delighted to present the full live concert of Ana Vidović, one of the most celebrated and virtuosic classical guitarists of our time, recorded in Aachen, Germany in collaboration with LOGOI, Institute for Philosophy and Public Discourse. The concert took place in the beautiful Aula Carolina in the heart of the city.
The Croatian guitarist has been a phenomenon since childhood and today fills halls around the world. Her playing unites flawless technique with a clarity of musical thought that few players at any level achieve — qualities on full display across this generous program. The Program
The evening opens with Johann Sebastian Bach: the complete Violin Partita No. 3 in E major, BWV 1006 — Prelude, Loure, Gavotte en Rondeau, Menuets, Bourrée and Gigue — followed by the monumental Chaconne from the Violin Partita No. 2 in D minor, widely considered one of the greatest pieces ever written and one of the ultimate challenges on the guitar.
After Bach, the program crosses to the Spanish-speaking world: the Sonatina Meridional by Manuel María Ponce, four sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti (K. 213, K. 1, K. 27 and K. 239), the atmospheric Nocturno by the Croatian composer Slavko Fumić, and the Suite Castellana by Federico Moreno Torroba. The concert culminates in La Catedral by Agustín Barrios Mangoré — the Paraguayan master's three-movement portrait of a cathedral, from meditative prelude to the whirlwind of its final Allegro — before Vidović sends the audience home with Albéniz's beloved Asturias as an encore.
