How do I properly care for my classical guitar?
A classical guitar requires constant humidity between 45 and 55 percent. Store the instrument in its case with a humidifier, avoid direct sunlight and large temperature fluctuations. Change the strings regularly and clean the guitar with a soft microfiber cloth.

Francisco Gil Romero is a distinguished Mexican guitarist and now also a luthier with an extensive international career. He has performed in Mexico, the United States, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, England, Italy, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay, earning a reputation as one of Mexico’s most internationally recognized guitarists. His performances have been broadcast on radio and television and received high praise from critics.
As a soloist, Francisco Gil has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Puebla (Mexico), the Symphony Orchestra of Michoacán (Mexico), the Symphony Orchestra of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and the Chamber Orchestra of Mont Blanc (France). He has also been active in chamber music, collaborating with the Cuarteto Erasmus (Italy).
His five recordings – Impresiones de América, El Esplendor del Laúd en el Barroco, Sonatina Meridional, Solo Tárrega, and Isaac Albéniz – were released under the TASTO label and include several world premieres. The Italian magazine Il Fronimo praised Sonatina Meridional, dedicated to Manuel M. Ponce, for its “light and flowing musical character” and “graceful elegance,” while the British magazine Classical Guitar highlighted his Baroque lute interpretations for their “exceptional contrapuntal clarity” and “deep musical understanding.”
Born in Mexico City, he graduated with top honors and summa cum laude from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música (Mexico) and the Conservatorio Antonio Vivaldi (Alessandria, Italy), where he studied with Marco Antonio Anguiano and Angelo Gilardino. Alongside his professorship at the Conservatorio de Música del Estado de México, Francisco Gil teaches masterclasses and lectures in Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, the United States, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.
He also serves as the artistic director of the international guitar series Guitarras en Otoño. His profound understanding of tone, expression, and performance now informs his work as a guitar maker, where musicality and craftsmanship meet in every instrument he builds.
