About the Guitar Maker

Michael Cadiz, originally from Seattle, Washington (USA), has been living and working in Graz, Austria for several years. He built his first guitar at the age of 15, marking the beginning of a lifelong passion for both music and fine craftsmanship. Over time, this early enthusiasm evolved into a deep dedication to the art of guitar making.

Michael is profoundly grateful for his formative apprenticeship with the renowned American luthier Robert Ruck, whose mentorship continues to influence his work. The two maintain a close friendship and ongoing professional exchange to this day. He also learned a great deal from Seattle-based guitar makers Rick Davis and Greg Oxrieder, whose expertise helped shape his understanding of design and construction principles.

In 2016, Michael relocated his workshop to Graz, Austria, where he has since been successfully crafting handmade classical guitars. His instruments are celebrated for their tonal balance, precision, and visual refinement, blending the meticulous craftsmanship of the American lutherie tradition with the tonal elegance of European guitar making.
