Over the course of his career, he has refined his approach through close contact with distinguished musicians and fellow guitar makers while maintaining a strong connection to the Spanish guitar tradition. About the guitar
The Deseada occupies a particularly personal place in Javier Mengual’s work. Developed through many years of exchange with professional guitarists and enriched by his collaboration with guitarist, composer, and professor Joaquín Clerch, the model seeks to unite the woody, romantic character Mengual admires in Torres guitars with the greater power associated with the Alhambra concert voice. Its name is also a tribute to his wife, giving the instrument a significance that extends beyond its construction.
Built traditionally in 2026 with a spruce soundboard and Indian rosewood back and sides, this Deseada produces an unusually powerful and immediate response for an instrument of its construction.
