Overview

This 2016 concert guitar by Angelo Vailati reflects the refined artistry of one of Italy’s most promising luthiers. Professionally played and well cared for, it has developed a mature voice marked by clarity, sweetness, and lyrical singing trebles. Built with a spruce top and traditional five-fan bracing with bridge plate, it offers balance, projection, and brilliance characteristic of the finest classical guitars. Repolished and carefully restored by Vailati himself, including an almost invisible repair that leaves tone and stability unaffected, it combines seasoned sound with excellent condition. A rare chance to own a Vailati guitar without the usual wait, at an especially appealing value.

Angelo Vailati 2016 Classical Guitar Review

More details about the guitar

About the luthier

Angelo Vailati belongs to the younger generation of highly qualified Italian luthiers, who have already established themselves internationally and are among the most outstanding representatives of the Italian guitar building scene. After learning from the best and acquiring knowledge under the guidance of Enrico Bottelli, José Luis Romanillos, and Daniele Chiesa, Angelo opened his own workshop in Bologna, Italy. His guitars are strongly inspired by the great masters of the guitar-building tradition. The craftsmanship is precise, delicate and allows him to express his great talent in building tasteful guitars.

About the guitar

This pre-loved guitar, built in 2016 by the great Angelo Vailati, has matured beautifully and has been professionally played over the years, giving it a refined, well-developed voice. The spruce soundboard is reinforced with five fan bracings and a bridge plate, following a traditional concert guitar construction. Sonically, the guitar shines with clear, sweet, and singing trebles—a true hallmark of Vailati’s craftsmanship. It stands as a fine example of a high-level traditional concert guitar, just as one would expect from Angelo. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Vailati guitar at a very attractive price, without having to endure the usual long waiting time.

Condition

As a pre-owned instrument, the guitar has been repolished by Angelo Vailati himself. A thin crack on the bass side of the lower bout has been professionally glued and reinforced from the inside using a very light and thin piece of fabric, also by Angelo. The repair is virtually invisible from the outside and does not affect the structural integrity or sound in any way.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
