Dominik Wurth - "Torres" 2020

Dominik Wurth - "Torres" 2020

Overview

Dominik Wurth grew up in a small rural village on the edge of the Black Forest in Germany. In his early twenties, he discovered the guitar and started playing and practicing the instrument. After some time and technical progress, Dominik needed a better guitar. So he started reading books about guitar making to get a deeper insight into the differences in quality and to be better prepared for purchasing the right guitar. After reading several books on the subject, the temptation to build a guitar himself overcame his desire to buy a new one, and Dominik Wurth began to build his first classical guitar. After a long study of the art of lutherie at the University of Stringed Instruments in Zwickau, he was awarded the title of "Master of the Plucked Instrument Maker's Handicraft".

This lovely cypress guitar by Dominik Wurth is a lovely, lightweight tribute to Antonio de Torres. It is in excellent condition with only superficial playing marks. The spontaneity and responsiveness of the top are remarkable. Even sustain of the first string and charming timbre in all registers make this guitar an inspiring and joyful instrument to play, ideal for the XIX century Spanish repertoire.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
