Francisco Barba - 2022 Flamenco Maple

Francisco Barba - 2022 Flamenco Maple

Overview

Francisco Barba was born in Sevilla in 1939. In the early 1960s, he started working as a carpenter with his father. After that time, he decided to become a luthier and began a career that would become one of the most successful in the modern flamenco guitar-making world. Maestro Francisco Barba builds mainly Flamenco guitars, and his instruments are praised for their extraordinary, unique tone with beautiful basses and singing trebles. Today he is considered one of the best living flamenco guitar builders.

This brand new 2022 Francisco Barba comes directly from the Spanish master's workshop. The absolutely mind-blowing flamed maple back and sides give it a one-of-a-kind look. With its only 1435 grams, it is very lightweight and tuned low, slight over F. The very functional Gotoh tuners provide excellent tune, and the dimensions of this guitar are standard for Barba's flamenco guitars: a 65,5 cm scale combined with a 53 mm nut. Moreover, the low action at 2,6 mm / 2,2 mm makes it very comfortable to play for both right and left hand.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
