Overview
Born in 1880 Francisco Manuel Fleta started to build instruments at an early age and finished his first violin at the age of 15. His father supported him and organized an apprenticeship with the violin maker Benito Jaume, who had his workshop in Barcelona. M. Fleta worked three years with Benito Jaume, before he perfected his skills with Etienne Marie. Finally, he opened his own workshop in Barcelona in 1915. He also taught his brothers Ignacio and Bienvenido Fleta how to make guitars.
This instrument made by Francisco Manuel Fleta was built in 1968 and corresponds fully to the guitar making tradition of the Fleta family. The top is made of beautiful bear claw spruce, which has no cracks. The back and sides are made of Indian Rosewood. There are three repaired and stable cracks on the side. Overall, this rare guitar is in good condition. The sound is lovely with lyrical and at the same time very present trebles while the basses sound very warm and crisp. We already recorded a video with Jan Depreter playing this guitar that we will upload very soon. The original tuners are made by Fustero. A Hiscox Pro II case is included.
