About the luthier
Giorgio Amorella is an Italian luthier and a valued member of the Siccas Guitars team. Before turning to instrument making, he studied engineering and worked in the automotive industry, while an increasingly deep passion for the classical guitar gradually led him towards lutherie. He pursued guitar-making courses and sought exchange with makers in Italy and Germany, developing his understanding through both practical work and direct contact with different building traditions. An important stage in this journey was an internship with Daniel Stark, during which the first ideas for “La Gentile” began to take shape. At Siccas Guitars, Giorgio has had the opportunity to study and work with instruments by many of the great makers of the past and present, deepening his understanding of historical schools, construction methods and individual approaches to sound. “La Gentile” is the result of these formative years: a personal synthesis of the traditions and makers that have influenced him most. As a member of Siccas Guitars, Giorgio’s development as a maker is particularly close to us, and we are proud to present this instrument.
About the guitar
“La Gentile” — Italian for “the gentle one” — began during Giorgio Amorella’s time with Daniel Stark and draws directly on ideas encountered during this period, while bringing together several of the historical influences that have shaped his work. The guitar is built with a European spruce soundboard and beautifully figured English walnut back and sides, whose flowing grain gives the instrument a restrained but distinctive visual identity. The choice of walnut also reflects Giorgio’s preference for working, where possible, with European tonewoods rather than relying on more exotic materials. Its construction pays particular tribute to Hernández y Aguado, complemented by a scalloped Bouchet-style bar made from balsa beneath the bridge. Slightly raised back braces add further structural stiffness and contribute to a focused, clearly defined bass response, while the rosette and headstock echo the timeless visual language of Daniel Friederich.
Musically, the name “La Gentile” is especially apt. The guitar has an airy, resonant quality, with chords opening freely and individual voices remaining easy to follow within the harmonic texture. Its trebles are elegant and brilliant without becoming sharp, while the basses remain focused and clearly shaped.
