Overview

Jim Redgate is a highly sought-after Australian luthier, known for his guitars built for artists such as Ana Vidovic, Pepe Roméro, and Odair Assad. Jim Redgate’s instruments have their own sound and touch. The breath-taking volume combined with rich harmonics and impressive clarity of sound is quite unique. The playability is fantastic, and the guitars are relatively light in weight compared to the Australian standard.
This 2001 Jim Redgate combines soberness and a strong character. It has a balsa-made lattice bracing reinforced with carbon fiber. The back is slightly arched, reminiscent of the cello's, and two wooden bars were fixed to the lower bout to strengthen the sides. These elements contribute to a broad projection of the sound and great stability. The matt and dark cedar top is elegantly decorated with an in-tone rosette recalling antique roman architecture. The guitar shows minor and superficial playing marks on the soundboard and the back.

The flowing and long-lasting trebles echoes to deep round bass notes, and the warm variety of colors form an overall sense of balance. This lattice has remarkable responsiveness, a discreet attack, and easy playability. The result is a powerful and legato sound that will gently comfort its player in public performances and inspire him in a recording session. Overall, it is a wonderful, rare, and highly sought-after concert guitar.
