Jost von Huene - 2016

Overview

Jost von Huene was born in 1979 and is part of the new German guitar makers generation. Always interested in guitar making, he did an apprenticeship in Wolfgang Amann’s workshop before starting further studies at the college for instrument making of Markneukirchen in 2003. After having obtained his master degree in 2007, he opened his workshop in Dresden (Germany) in 2007. Since 2012 he teaches the art of the lutherie in Markneukirchen.
What a beautiful classical guitar. This concert model built in 2016 features a myriad of beautiful construction details: the beautifully coloured spruce top giving an aged look to the instrument, the fine reddish finish on the neck reminding of the great Spanish masters of the beginning of the twentieth century, the delicate purflings rosette in the tradition of Torres and Arias, and eventually the delicate rounded heel linking the neck to the body with style and refinement. Sound wise this guitar is stable and reliable with a wide sound and a smooth touch on the fingerboard. The top bracing consists of a light fan bracing transversely supported by additional struts. This ingenious fans and lattice design offers power and projection as well as sustain and colours. To sum up, it is great guitar uniting past and modern aspects of sound and construction, for a breath-taking result. The tuners are made by Schaller. A hard-shell case is included.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
