Karl Höfner - 2020 HM 92 Sarabande

Overview

Karl Höfner, the founder of the Höfner company (1864 – 1955), began his career as a violin maker after being apprenticed to Anton Schaller. In 1887, he sold his first violins and established his works in Schönbach, the European center of stringed instrument making. Karl's reputation for crafting instruments of the finest quality quickly spread throughout Germany, Austria-Hungary, Russia, and other European countries, leading to the growth of his business. After the First World War, Karl brought his two sons, Josef and Walter, into the business, and they played a significant role in expanding the business, particularly into export markets. As a result, Höfner gained a worldwide reputation for manufacturing quality stringed instruments in Europe and beyond. Today, the Höfner company remains a highly respected and renowned brand, and Karl's legacy continues to inspire and influence generations of musicians and music lovers around the globe.

The Karl Höfner HM 92 Sarabande guitar is a great instrument. Its body is made of the finest Santos rosewood, which has been polished to perfection. The cedar top has been air-dried for many years, giving it a unique character and tone. The top is sealed with a very thin surface finish, allowing the natural sound of the wood to shine through. The neck has a matte finish, providing a comfortable grip and enhancing the overall playing experience. The HM 92 Sarabande guitar offers excellent balance and is suitable for many guitarists, from students to professionals. Its rich and warm tone, combined with its exceptional playability, makes it a joy to play. This guitar is a true testament to the expertise and dedication of Karl Höfner, a legacy that has been carried on by the company for over a century. As a pre-loved instrument, this guitar is in good condition with several playing marks. However, they are purely cosmetical and do not affect the guitar sound in any way.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
