Masaki Sakurai - 2022 Special 64 cm

Masaki Sakurai - 2022 Special 64 cm

Overview

Masaki Sakurai, nephew of the great Japanese luthier Masaru Kohno, was born in 1944. He studied electrical engineering at the Sophia University and joined “Kohno Guitar Manufacturing” after graduating in 1967. In 1988 he won the prestigious first prize at the Fourth International Paris Guitar Making Competition. Masaki Sakurai’s guitars are of impeccable craftsmanship and are known for their ease of playing and great volume of sound.

The Masaki Sakurai Special model is a beautiful instrument in the purest Japanese handcrafting tradition and impresses with extremely meticulous workmanship, a great piano-like fundamental sound and remarkable sustain. This model differs from its sister model, the Sakurai Kohno Special, in the bracing and design. Nevertheless, both guitars are of equally high quality. Masaki Sakurai's guitars can be recognised by the design of the headstock, which is a combination of the head shape of Robert Bouchet's and Masaru Kohno's guitars. It is a great sensation to play a Masaki Sakurai guitar, as the setup is perfect, the playability effortless and the tone production a real delight.

Masaki Sakurai 2022 Special "64 cm" Classical Guitar - Ständchen by F. Schubert

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
