Overview

Matthias “Matteo” Hartig is a German luthier from Glattbach, Bavaria. Just like the famous Robert Bouchet, it was only in his forties that he discovered his true vocation in guitar making. His inspiration is the sound of the instruments of the old masters. Especially Torres, Enrique Garcia, Antonio Emilio Pascual and Richard Jacob “Weißgerber”. Matteo is dedicated to traditional building methods, using almost exclusively hide glue for his construction and shellac for the finish.

This brand new guitar numbered 63 is heavily inspired by the legendary German master luthier Richard Jacob “Weißgerber”. The spruce top is fluted, a technique Weissgerber used on some of his best instruments, giving this guitar a unique look and sound. Overall, it has a distinctively clear and precise, but most importantly, overtone-rich sound character that makes it a wonderfully singing and inspiring guitar.

Matthias Hartig 2022 Hohlkehle Classical Guitar - review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
