Tamara Stahl - 2025 No. 11

Overview

About the luthier

Tamara Stahl began her journey in guitar making in 2016 while working at Siccas Guitars in Karlsruhe, Germany. Playing and studying a wide range of handcrafted instruments ignited her passion for understanding the construction and nuances of well-made guitars. In 2019, she completed her formal education at the renowned instrument-making school in Mittenwald, Bavaria. To further immerse herself in the history and culture of classical guitar, she moved to southern Spain, the birthplace of the modern guitar, where she had the opportunity to learn from experienced masters. In 2022, Tamara opened a workshop in Weimar, Germany, alongside fellow luthier Johanna Vogl. This collaborative space allows them to work individually while inspiring, supporting, and learning from one another.

About the guitar

This exquisite guitar model is a reflection of Tamara Stahl’s years of dedication and the invaluable lessons she gained from working with esteemed luthiers and studying historical craftsmanship. Built in the traditional Spanish style, it integrates modern innovations to create an instrument that embodies the warmth, richness, and roundness of classic guitars while offering enhanced projection, responsiveness, and durability. The soundboard is crafted with meticulous care, functioning as a finely tuned acoustic membrane that interacts harmoniously with a carefully weighted bridge. This balance results in a guitar with exceptional sustain, dynamic range, and tonal clarity across all registers.

Tamara tailors each instrument to the unique characteristics of its wood, believing that every piece, shaped by nature’s variability, deserves an individualized approach to reveal its full potential. The sides of the guitar are doubled, providing structural stability and enhancing resonance, while the elevated fretboard facilitates effortless playability and improved access to higher frets. The rosette and decorative elements are inspired by the intricate architecture of the Alhambra in Granada. Tamara’s design reflects her abstract interpretation of the Alhambra’s domes, mosaics, and subtle color contrasts, particularly the interplay of sand tones and unexpected touches of blue. The result is a guitar that seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with modern artistry, offering a visually stunning and sonically captivating experience.

Tamara Stahl 2025 Classical Guitar Review
Guitar Makers with Vision - WGM #137 | Marquet, Eden, Eichert, Mönch, Stahl

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
