Thomas Dauge is a French luthier based in Bordeaux. He follows the French tradition of guitar making and proves great skills in the design and construction of the rosette and other marquetry elements. Thomas Dauge pays great attention to every detail of the instrument, such as the choice of wood, the quality of shellac polish, the clean execution of the joints and, above all, the sound characteristics of his guitars. He succeeds in building very well-balanced instruments with complex timbre and excellent playability.
Thomas Dauge's remarkable accomplishment in making an exact copy of Daniel Friederich's guitar can be seen in this guitar number 156 made in 2022. This authentic copy corresponds to the original in every detail, both in the quality of the woods and in the perfect execution of all the fine aspects. Thomas Dauge has captured the essence of Friederich's guitars in all aspects. In terms of sound, one also recognizes that there is a good understanding of the very complex Friederich character. Excellent projection, coupled with an harmonious sound and long sustain, just like the original. The first-class Rodgers tuners underline the excellent quality of this Thomas Dauge guitar.
