Overview

The Premium models are unique instruments that are developed in cooperation with a selection of exceptional luthiers. These models are exclusively available at Siccas Guitars and are built with the finest Cites-certified Brazilian rosewood of premium quality. Due to its outstanding physical and tonal characteristics, this wood has been used in guitar building since the 19th century and is regarded as the most valuable and aesthetically appealing tonewood in guitar building.

Walter Verreydt built his first guitars in 1985. He was primarily a woodworking teacher and his love for music led him to build his first guitar and to become a luthier. Since 1988 Walter teaches classical guitar making at the “Centrum voor Muziekinstrumentenbouw” in Puurs (Belgium). He studied many guitars of famous luthiers like Ignacio Fleta, Robert Bouchet, Hernandez y Aguado and many more. His very good relationships with Daniel Friederich and José Romanillos helped him in the development of his own ideas. His guitars are handmade in the Spanish tradition and every instrument is the product of his personal growth and constant studies.

This new guitar built in 2020 is characterized by great elegance and sophistication down to the smallest detail.  A gorgeous set of very dense and particularly dark Brazilian rosewood (CITES certified) was chosen for this instrument. The timber presents parallel black veins contrasting perfectly with the orange and green reflections of the wood. The spruce top, along with the rest of the instrument, is French polished with clear shellac revealing the wood grain in all its natural beauty. Walter Verreydt's guitars are also recognizable by their delicate marquetry. Moreover this instrument is elaborately decorated with a rosette with three geometric friezes and purfling inlays on the top, which recall the central pattern of the rosette. The elegance of the very figurative head veneer as well as the German Klaus Scheller tuners once again underline the importance that Walter Verreydt gave to the aesthetics of this guitar.

As always, Walter Verreydt's guitars are also distinguished by their graceful tone, ease of playing and powerful sound. This particular guitar has a tone of a very special colour and depth, partly due to the Brazilian rosewood. The notes are both clear and crystalline, yet round with a very pleasant sustain. It is very easy to play for the left hand, and the responsiveness of the top makes it a very playful instrument for the right hand. Consequently, this guitar is of exquisite craftsmanship and an instrument that also meets high demands with regard to acoustical quality and will delight many guitarists and their listeners.

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
