Description
Johann Georg Stauffer was born on 26th January 1778 in Vienna where he also died later on 24th January 1853.
This wonderful guitar, constructed by Johann Georg Stauffer represents the later models which were constructed by Stauffer with the reference „nach dem Modell des Luigi Legnani“ (=in accordance to the model by Luigi Legnani). This guitar was built in 1831 and hast he serial no. 2328. The top is made of spruce wood and has a matt finish. The soundhole is relatively small and decorated with light and dark veneers. The guitar’s bridge is designed in a plain and modest manner. The sides as well as the one-piece back are made of maple and show the typical coat of varnish which is a characteristic feature of the Stauffer-guitars of that time. It has some very well repaired cracks on the top and the sides. It’s fully playable.
