Ysé Dastugue – a poetic voice in the new generation of classical guitarists
Born in Toulouse in 1994, French guitarist Ysé Dastugue has forged a musical path defined by depth, precision and sincerity. For him, the guitar has always been a space for exploration and freedom – a way to connect emotion and craftsmanship in equal measure.
Career and recognition
Ysé Dastugue has won numerous international competitions, including first prize at the Niccolò Paganini Competition in Parma (2023), the Harmonia Cordis Competition in Romania (2024), and the Mantovani Competition in Tuscany (2024). These achievements have established him as one of the most promising guitarists of his generation.
His growing career has taken him to major festivals such as the Seville Guitar Festival, Toulouse Guitare, Incontri Chitarristici di Gargnano, the Paganini Guitar Festival in Parma, and the Novum Generatio Festival in Romania. In 2024, he was also invited to perform as a soloist with orchestra at the Paganini Guitar Festival.
Education and influences
Ysé began his studies at the Conservatoire de Toulouse with Marc Navarro, Paul Ferret and Benoît Albert. He then continued at the Conservatorio Superior in Seville in the class of Francisco Bernier, followed by studies in Lucca with Giampaolo Bandini, where he completed his master’s degree in performance with honors. In 2025, he will begin a master’s program in pedagogy at the Haute École de Musique de Genève under Judicaël Perroy.
Teaching and artistic approach
Alongside his concert activities, Ysé Dastugue regularly gives masterclasses at leading guitar festivals across Europe, sharing his experience and insight with young musicians.
