Day 1

The Roma Expo Guitar 2024 was a memorable event for Siccas Guitars as specialists Jonathan Singgih Pranoto and Denis Pécaut ventured to Rome for an enriching experience. Despite potential disruptions due to widespread strikes in Germany, their journey was seamless, allowing them to arrive just in time for a quick late lunch before the evening’s gala. The highlight of the gala evening was the heart-touching concert performed by the renowned Adriano del Sal, setting a majestic tone for the evening. Following the concert, the gala dinner offered a fantastic opportunity for networking where Jonathan and Denis reconnected with partners and friends, strengthening old ties and forging new ones. The evening rounded off with a vibrant after-party, making their day not only productive but also immensely enjoyable.

Day 2

Today marked an extraordinary beginning as we set out early to participate in the preliminary guitar comparison hosted by our esteemed friend Gabriele Curciotti. Gabriele along with Masimo Di Coste spearheads one of the most prestigious classical guitar expos globally. The morning was filled with the resonant sounds of exceptional guitars, setting a high bar for what was to follow. After absorbing our initial impressions, we had the privilege of meeting the guitar maker and trying out the instruments ourselves, a testament to the incredible craftsmanship of the Italian classical guitar community. The consensus was unanimous: this year’s expo surpassed all expectations. We concluded the day with a delightful dinner featuring Carbonara alla Romana, surrounded by fellow guitar enthusiasts and makers. The camaraderie and culinary delights perfectly capped off a memorable day.

Day 3

Our adventure at the expo continued today where we found ourselves surrounded by an array of mind-blowing instruments—a real treat for us guitar enthusiasts. The day was packed with engaging meetings, including one with the CEO of Knobloch Strings, a leader in classical guitar strings. Our discussions weren’t limited to luthiers; Jonathan had a rewarding conversation with Ricardo Gallen, a world-renowned professor from a music university in Weimar. Denis also reconnected with master luthier Enrico Botelli, an influential figure in the Italian classical guitar-making scene who attended the expo as a visitor. Our day of fruitful encounters and musical discoveries concluded with a celebratory dinner for the birthday of our beloved friend and esteemed luthier Ennio Giovanetti, making it not just a day of learning and inspiration but also of celebration and camaraderie.

Day 4

As the curtains closed on the final day of the expo, our spirits remained high, fueled by the anticipation of discovering exceptional guitars. Our expectations were surpassed when we encountered “Half is Half,” a masterful collaboration between Daniele Marrabello and Angelo Vailati. This guitar is a striking fusion of two distinct artistic and acoustic genes, creating a unique instrument unlike any other in the world. The craftsmanship showcased the individual styles and tonal excellence of both luthiers. Additionally, Angelo and Danielle introduced their special edition instruments which will soon be available for purchase on our website. The day was further enriched by a guitar comparison session led by Bozhana Pavlova, allowing us to appreciate subtle nuances between different instruments. Our memorable day concluded with a farewell dinner alongside the talented luthiers, marking a truly fantastic experience that was both enriching and inspiring.

Thank you for reading about our journey at the Roma Expo Guitars 2024.

Your next step is a real classic

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
