About the Luthiers – Alessio & Marta Guarnieri

Alessio and Marta Guarnieri are a dynamic duo in the world of modern guitar making, having founded Liuteria Guarnieri in 2014. Their collaboration merges art, music, and fine craftsmanship, combining their different backgrounds into one shared path rooted in musical creation. Alessio nurtured his passion for music from childhood, while Marta refined her artistic sensitivity and precision through studies in art, drawing, and sculpture. Their meeting at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan revealed a perfect harmony of skills and passions.

During their four years at the school, they were trained by master luthiers such as Tiziano Rizzi, Lorenzo Lippi, Federico Gabrielli, Filippo Lesca, and Silvia Zanchi. Alessio completed an internship in the workshop of Mirko Borghino, while Marta trained with Federico Gabrielli. They also attended seminars held by internationally renowned luthiers including John Monteleone, Roy McAlister, Jean Larrivée, Kevin Ryan, Rick Davis, Cat Fox, and Richard Hoover, further deepening their expertise.

Every instrument they craft is a testament to their dedication to perfection, meticulous attention to detail, and relentless pursuit of superior sound quality. Alessio and Marta work closely with musicians, shaping personalized instruments that reflect each player’s unique character, needs, and musical style. Their passion for all forms of music continues to inspire their creations, ranging from classical guitars to steel-strings and ukuleles.

In recognition of their outstanding craftsmanship, Liuteria Guarnieri was awarded the label of artisanal excellence by the Piedmont Region in May 2016 — a mark of their exceptional artistry and commitment to their craft.
