Altamira M30 Antique

Altamira M30 Antique

Overview

Altamira has established a reputation as one of the most interesting brands for Gypsy Jazz guitars. With a focus on high quality woods and authentic sound, Altamira guitars offer excellent value for money. Built in Asia under the direction of Hanson Yao, who trained at the renowned Rodriguez workshop in Spain, the instruments are played by both professional and passionate Gypsy Jazz guitarists around the world.

The "M" stands for the initials of the legendary guitar maker Mario Maccaferri, who developed this type of guitar and built it in collaboration with the French manufacturer Selmer from 1932 to about 1952. Although Maccaferri's collaboration with Selmer ended in 1934, the company continued to produce several models of this guitar until 1952. It was Django Reinhard who made the Selmer Maccaferri guitars popular and his playing style. Thus, the Selmer Maccaferri model with its relatively large body and either oval "Petite Bouche" or D-shaped "Grande Bouche" sound hole is an indispensable element for any guitarist who wants to explore the inspiring and fascinating repertoire of Gypsy Jazz.

The M30 is the finest and highest quality model in the Altamira Gypsy Jazz guitar series built from the finest solid tone woods. The carefully selected and arched spruce top an excellent responsiveness. The densely grained solid back and sides of Indian rosewood give the guitar excellent projection and expressiveness. It has an authentic, full, and crisp sound character and thanks to the well-shaped C-shaped neck it is very easy to play. It is available with oval sound hole (Petite Bouche) or D-shaped sound hole (Grande Bouche), high gloss finish or antique finish. An extremely impressive guitar, suitable for those who are looking for a versatile and enriching instrument that will give great pleasure and will support and help them advance in their playing.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
