Andrea Marcellan - 2022 No. 70 REG Limited Edition

Andrea Marcellan - 2022 No. 70 REG Limited Edition

Overview

Andrea Marcellan is an Italian luthier and belongs to the new generation of outstanding and aspiring guitars builders in Italy. He attended the instrument making school “Scuola di Artigianato Artistico del Centopievese” in Bologna, after which he opened his own workshop and dedicated himself to the construction of classical guitars. He settled in Padua, Italy, where he has been building beautiful guitars for 11 years.
Due to the large number of excellent luthiers exhibiting their instruments and the outstanding quality of the guitars presented at the Roma Guitar Expo, it is certainly a globally unique event in the area of classical guitars. Every year, carefully selected guitar makers are invited to present a special edition, a one- of-a-kind guitar that sets a very high benchmark in terms of woodworking, craftsmanship and sound.
Andrea Marcellan's 2022 REG Limited Edition guitar is based on Andrea's highest model, to which he added some elegant aesthetical features making it unique. Andrea's guitars are built with remarkable attention to detail, showing his refined artistry as a great guitar maker.

This particular guitar, number 70, features beautiful straight grain Pau Ferro back and sides, with a light sapwood stripe in the middle of the back. In combination with the spruce top, this exotic wood gives this instrument a luminous and elegant look. Moreover, Pao Ferro has particularly similar acoustic properties to rosewood. This guitar plays and sings beautifully with a volume that will easily fulfill the demands of a player of the highest level. It has a beautiful contrast between deep dark basses, and singing clear trebles, with a hint of lushness that adds to the overall character of the instrument.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
