Antonio Marin Montero - 2020 Maple

Antonio Marin Montero - 2020 Maple

Overview

Antonio Marín Montero was born in Granada in 1933. In 1957, he joined master Pérez’s workshop and two years later, in 1959, his father advised him to visit Eduardo Ferrer for whom he worked until opening his workshop. A milestone in Antonio Marin Montero’s career was his meeting with the French luthier Robert Bouchet in the 1970s. The two artists became friends and built several guitars together. The confrontation between Marin Montero’s Spanish building system and Robert Bouchet’s very particular bracing construction was a great source of inspiration for Antonio Marin Montero, and he continued to build a model with the ” Robert Bouchet ” bracing throughout his career. Today Antonio Marin Montero is one of the most sought-after Spanish guitar makers.

What a rare bird's eye maple Antonio Marin Montero! This 2020 exemplar is one of the few amazing guitars built with this timber, and it looks phenomenal. The intensely figured spruce soundboard also adds to its overall charm, and apart from some superficial playing marks, it is in excellent condition. We are speechless to describe this guitar's sound, as it is, in our opinion, the ultimate Spanish guitar. This guitar has it all: sustain, timbre, volume, playability, and colors, and it hardly gets any better.

In Granada town, in '33,
Antonio Marin Montero came to be,
With a passion for the strings and wood,
He joined Perez's workshop, where he stood.

Then to Eduardo Ferrer he went,
His father's advice, a wise intent,
Until he opened his own shop,
And in his craft, he did not stop.

But a turning point in his career,
Was meeting Bouchet, a luthier dear,
Their friendship grew, guitars they built,
A fusion of styles, a perfect fit.

Marin Montero's Spanish way,
And Bouchet's bracing, a new sway,
Inspired the maker, he did say,
To build guitars with a unique display.

And now in 2020, we see,
A rare bird's eye maple, a sight to be,
With a spruce soundboard, its charm aglow,
A guitar that hardly gets any better to show.

Sustain, timbre, volume, and more,
This guitar has it all in store,
A masterpiece of sound and play,
Antonio Marin Montero's legacy to stay.

Antonio Marin Montero 2020 Maple Classical Guitar - Ständchen by Franz Schubert

While this one is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
