Overview

Ariel Ameijenda was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1963, as the son of one of the country’s most famous guitar makers, Manuel Ameijenda. Ariel’s father learned this complex art from one of Ignacio Fleta’s pupils: Juan Carlos Santurion. Ariel Ameijenda started to help his father in the workshop at a very young age young, and he quickly developed great skills in different techniques of guitar making. In 1997 Ariel Ameijenda opened his own workshop in Montevideo. He is now selling guitars and period string instruments to musicians all over the world. In 2014, Ariel moved to the heavenly settings of the Cerro de los Burros near the city of Piriapolis on the East Coast of Uruguay.

This shorter scale guitar is a particular order from our shop with a focus on sound and playability. Coming directly from Ariel's workshop, it has a 63 cm scale, 2cm shorter than the standard 65 cm scale, making it highly comfortable for the left hand. The bracing is inspired by Antonio de Torres' guitars, making this instrument very responsive, warm, and joyful. In addition, a nice set of dark Indian rosewood was chosen for the back and sides, giving this guitar an elegant and classy appearance.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
