At HANIKA, craftsmanship is regarded as tailor-made precision and sound as art. The manufacture in Baiersdorf traces its roots to Helmut Hanika, who founded the SOLI company in 1953 after learning violin making through the family workshop tradition of his grandfather, Anton Mayer. As demand changed, Helmut Hanika moved from folk guitar production toward high-quality classical guitars, establishing the name Hanika as a respected German reference for refined hand-built instruments.
Since 1993, the company has been led by Armin Hanika, the second generation of the family. Under his direction, HANIKA continues to combine experienced handcraft, carefully selected materials, and modern construction concepts across a wide range of classical guitars, from the Studio Line to the specially made instruments of the Professional Line.
About the guitar
The Hanika New Century Doubletop belongs to the Professional Line and presents a modern concert guitar concept focused on projection, comfort, and tonal efficiency. Based on Hanika’s HE Doubletop model, it combines a cedar double-top soundboard with rosewood back and sides, while the double back construction with thermally modified checker tree and carbon is designed to support a full sound, long sustain, and confident carrying power in larger rooms.
Musically, the New Century Doubletop offers a clear, responsive voice with strong dynamic potential. The cedar double top gives the guitar warmth and flexibility under the right hand, while the thermally modified bridge helps the attack remain precise and lively. Its natural-sealed soundboard keeps the response open and sensitive, giving the instrument a refined balance between tonal colour, projection, and immediacy.
The playing concept is equally contemporary. The elevated fingerboard makes higher positions easier to reach, the sound port improves the player’s own perception of the instrument, and the armrest adds comfort during longer practice or performance sessions. Finished with a high-gloss body, equipped with Rubner Sonido E tuners, and supplied with a high quality BAM Hightech case, the New Century Doubletop is designed for players seeking a modern professional guitar with a powerful sound and ergonomic refinement.

How do I properly care for my classical guitar?
A classical guitar requires constant humidity between 45 and 55 percent. Store the instrument in its case with a humidifier, avoid direct sunlight and large temperature fluctuations. Change the strings regularly and clean the guitar with a soft microfiber cloth.
