Overview

At HANIKA craftsmanship is understood as custom work and sound as art. A guitar from the famous Baiersdorf manufacture is a symbol of quality and craftsmanship tradition. Since 1953 it has been the basis for the success story of the company, combined with trend-setting innovations. Master plucked instrument maker Armin Hanika took over the company from his father in 1993 and has been building classical guitars of outstanding quality ever since.

This "New Century Doubletop Model" is the latest innovation from Armin Hanika's workshop. It has all the elements of a modern classical guitar: a raised fingerboard to improve access to the higher registers, an additional sound port on the side for better tonal control, and finally a beautiful insensitive finish ( lacquer/wax) for the top and neck, which provides similar tonal characteristics as shellac. Also, one feature makes this guitar particularly intriguing: it has a second back placed in the middle of the body, which accelerates the interaction between soundboard and back. This provides both full sound with nice sustain and particularly good projection in larger rooms, resulting in a very responsive instrument.

This modern guitar has a traditional fan bracing made of spruce. Combined with the cedar top, the result is an instrument whose sound is both rich and spontaneous. The separation of voices, as well as the balance, is excellent. With the bridge made of thermo-checker-tree, much lower weight and damping than rosewood is achieved, which improves the response and increases the dynamics. This Doubletop Hanika thus offers impressive dynamic and tonal possibilities at an excellent price-performance ratio.

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
