Overview

Bertrand Ligier is a French luthier based in Connaux, near Avignon in the south of France. His guitars follow the French tradition and are crafted with great finesse. Particular attention is given to the French polish, and the sound qualities follow those of Dominique Field and Daniel Friederich’s guitars. Bertrand has adopted some aesthetic details from the history of guitar making and has made them his own with outstanding refinement and taste. For instance, the shape of the head as well as the illuminations and the size of the label are reminiscent of those of Robert Bouchet. The rosette is of the utmost delicacy and the intricate mosaic pieces that compose it are assembled with skillful precision.

Here is a guitar that combines everything a guitarist desires. The spontaneity of the sound as well as its balance, power, charm, and precision make it an instrument of rare versatility. Indeed, the excellence of Bertrand's luthiery is reflected in the flawless sound of his guitars. With its particular subtlety and flexibility, this guitar has exactly the sound qualities that make the French school of guitar making unique and for which it is appreciated worldwide.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
