Overview
Carl Hermann Schäfer started making guitars in 1966. He did his apprenticeship under the guidance of master guitar maker Ernest Köröskeny and later studied under master guitar maker Dieter Hopf. After having worked in Hopf’s workshop from 1971 to 1994, he opened his own in Oberneisen and moved to Niederbrechen, Germany, five years later.
There is a fascinating subtlety in the sound of this guitar. This instrument has perfect balance and intonation. It's impressive to hear the accuracy and length of the notes, all along the fingerboard and up to the highest positions. The high notes generate a lot of nice sympathetic resonances, giving a unique personality and presence to this guitar. The volume of the sound is all the more impressive as this guitar can be played effortlessly. Precision and clarity of every single note, as well as softness and richness of tone, will inspire any true lover of the traditional classical guitar.
