Overview

Carsten Kobs is a German guitar maker from Hamburg. He made his apprenticeship between 1990 and 1993. After having gathered experiences in guitar making and enriched his skills and knowledge, he successfully achieved the “Meister” title. His guitars are played by several prominent guitarists as Prof. Hubert Käppel, Prof. Xu Bao, Prof. Rainer Feldmann.
This traditional guitar was built in 2008. The spruce top has a five fans bracing with a transversal Bouchet bar, on the treble side only. Back and sides are built with beautifully figured Madagascar rosewood and the sides are noticeably reinforced by thin vertical cedro struts. Precise Irving Sloane tuners are on and the guitar is delivered with a hard-shell Eastman case. There are some slight playing marks on the top and a little ding below the bridge. The finish on the back is partially warn out from playing over the time and appears a little dull but is completely free of cracks or repairs.
The guitar is incredibly powerful and responsive, doubletop-ish. Nevertheless, the timbre is rich, and the tone is round. The attack of the note is very delicate, and the playability is perfect. It is really a perfect guitar for a thorough player who is searching for an easy-to-play, powerful and rich guitars.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
