Overview
Overview
Daniel Friederich was born on the sixteenth of January 1932. Although having the strong wish to play the guitar, he had to face a shortage of money. However, at the age of 23, Friederich solved this dilemma by building his first guitar himself: a copy of a Simplicio guitar. Daniel Friederich was helped by his guitar teacher Christian Aubin at the beginning around 1955. After having built tools and gathered some guitar making experiences, Daniel Friederich showed his fifteenth guitar to Robert Bouchet. Ever since, R. Bouchet inspired his work. He personally developed some ideas of R. Bouchet during his career. For decades, Daniel Friederich has been one of the most important active luthiers in the world. In 2015, he stopped building guitars and sold all his tools. He is now definitely one of the most respected and admired luthiers of the guitar history.
This guitar is a very rare early concert model built in 1963 wearing the no. 98. It is a very singular example of the concert models he built between 1962 and 1963 with serial numbers lower than 100.
Back and sides are made of solid Brazilian rosewood (certified) and the spruce top is built traditionally with fan-bracing. This beautiful instrument is in good condition. It was refinished at one point in the past and has three stable well repaired cracks on the top. The deep rounded basses unite perfectly with the overtones-rich treble and the sound has a great maturity and openness. The complexity of the timbre, the richness of the colours and the clarity of the tone make this Friederich an incredibly poetic and seductive instrument.

Classical Guitars
The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.Look all products of the collection -
