Overview
Daniel Friederich was born on the sixteenth of January 1932. Having to face shortage of money, Daniel Friederich’s wish to play the guitar led him to building his first guitar at the age of 23. This first instrument was a copy of a Simplicio guitar. Daniel Friederich was helped by his guitar teacher Christian Aubin at the beginning around 1955. After having built tools and gathered some guitar making experiences, Daniel Friederich showed his fifteenth guitar to Robert Bouchet. Ever since, R. Bouchet inspired his work. He personally developed some ideas of R. Bouchet during his career. For decades, Daniel Friederich has been one of the most important active luthiers in the world. In 2015, he stopped building guitars and sold all his tools. He is now definitely one of the most respected and admired luthiers of the guitar history.
This 1971 Concert model built by Daniel Friederich is absolutely gorgeous. Its condition is excellent, and it never had any crack nor repairs. The finish is original, and the instrument was only repolished on the back, at the spot that touches the player’s chest. This guitar is one of the rare early 1970s spruce tops built by Daniel Friederich. It sounds absolutely fantastic with plenty of colours and a robust rich timbre. The basses are ample and direct, superbly combining with the singing well rounded trebles to give a very balanced guitar. The volume and sustain of this instrument are also very impressive and it is definitely both a highly collectible instrument as well as a true concert guitar.
