Overview

Dominique Field is one of today's best and most sought-after guitar makers. Not only does he build guitars in the French guitar-making tradition, but he brings the latter to a whole new level, following the steps of modernization of Daniel Friederich and stretching the concepts of the French guitar-making tradition. Dominique Field's exceptional level of craftsmanship is one of the most distinctive features of his guitars. His instruments are characterized by an enormous attention to detail and an overall elegance in the choice of colors, motifs, and proportions.

This splendid concert guitar made in 1986 bearing the number 36 is a true work of art and is immediately noticeable for its excellent condition, showing only superficial signs of playing. In addition, the spruce top shows some wonderful bear claws, and the Indian rosewood's dark color has a magnificent depth. Arguably inspired by Torres and possibly Fleta guitars with spruce tops, this instrument is built with single sides and a seven-fan bracing to which a slightly diagonal crossbar under the sound hole was added. With no reinforcement under the bridge, this guitar has a very instantaneous and straightforward sound-character but also a touching smoothness and roundness.

In addition, other tonal qualities such as long sustain, balance and volume, which one expects from an absolute master guitar, are permanently present here. What a gem!

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
