Donatella Salvato - 2024 "Gran Concerto Hommage à Daniel Friederich” No. 53 REG 2024 Limited Edition 64 cm

Overview

Donatella Salvato comes from a family of skilled wood carvers and inlayers. She has a diploma in Graphic Arts and studied ‘cello at the Conservatory of Padua. She worked for 25 years as a cabinet maker, which allowed her to broaden her skills in all aspects of woodworking. Donatella Salvato is inspired by the great luthiers of the past, re-elaborating their designs according to her instincts and the specific current sound requirements. By studying and comparing various procedures and construction techniques, she has developed her own designs. She carries out all her work in her workshop, where every component is thoroughly tested, also using scientific instruments. She only uses top-quality, naturally seasoned woods and the ‘vacuum-gluing’ process to reduce stress on the soundboards. Donatella Salvato makes her own rosettes and banding and only uses French polish. Particular attention is paid to the beauty of sound, sustain, and the immediacy and sensitivity of the response as well as the playing comfort of the instrument. In 2021 at the “XII Concorso internazionale de Liuteria, Pisogne, Italy (BS)” she won both a gold and a silver medal.

The Donatella Salvato Limited Special Edition for Roma Expo Guitars 2024, dubbed 'Gran Concerto Hommage à Daniel Friederich', represents a new chapter in luthiery, marrying traditional aesthetic and acoustic qualities with modern craftsmanship. This exquisite instrument is crafted from Italian spruce for the soundboard and Indian rosewood for the back and sides, creating a combination that not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides a powerful and sustained sonic output across all registers. The deep basses and brilliant trebles are enriched by a spectrum of nuances, waiting to be explored by the player. With a 640 mm scale, a neck of Cedrela odorata, a fingerboard of African ebony, and a bridge of 12-hole Indian rosewood, this guitar boasts premium components. It is finely tuned with Alessi mother-of-pearl tuners and adorned with an elegant, exclusive rosette and decorations, all finished with a meticulous French polish that adds to its splendor. This instrument has an amazing playability due to its 640mm scale and 50.5mm nut.

Donatella Salvato approaches guitar making with a blend of scientific rigor and artistic flair, considering it not just a craft but a form of expression that brings wood to life through sound, design, and emotion. Her deep knowledge of materials and the physics of sound is complemented by an instinctual feel for woodworking, seasoned experience, and a passionate commitment to excellence. This guitar is not merely an instrument but a conduit for musical expression, offering an unparalleled playing experience. It responds beautifully to the nuances of a player's touch, coloring music with rich, detailed tones that enhance both performance and auditory pleasure. This guitar embodies the spirit of its creator—infusing each note with life, poetry, and a voice that resonates beyond the strings.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
